What is a Doula?
A Doula is a trained professional who offers emotional and physical support to a woman and her family during pregnancy, labor, birth, and the postpartum period. A Doula also helps a woman advocate for her baby and herself when she is laboring and birthing. Over the last 20years more than 13 scientific studies have shown that having the support and care of another woman present during labor, the laboring woman is more likely to have a shorter, safer more satisfying birth experience.
