Taught by Linda Troutman
Linda Troutman, CYT, RYT (500) has been practicing yoga for 23+ years and has been teaching for 10 years. Her students range in age from 2 – 99. Linda believes that yoga meets you where you are. She believes that yoga can be adapted for any person. Her teaching style is an eclectic mix of vinyasa and therapeutic yoga encompassing the precision of alignment along with breath synchronized practices of Viniyoga.

And now, together... we begin the study of Yoga ~Patanjali's Yoga Sutra 1.1

This 4 class introduction to yoga series will help you develop or build on your knowledge of yoga and focus on:

  • Alignment principles
  • Breathing techniques - Pranayama
  • Increasing the flexibility of the spine
  • Improving your range of motion within the joints
  • Increasing core strength
  • Increasing stamina with standing poses
  • Improving balance and focus
  • Improving relaxation and ability to sleep
  • Decreasing stiffness and pain
  • Increasing body awareness
  • Increasing energy and vitality

This is the perfect class for a student who is either new to yoga or looking to return to the basics. Each student will be encouraged to work within their own capacity. At the end of the program, each student will know the basics of pranayama (breathing techniques) and alignment principles of standing, seated, prone, supine, inverted and balance poses. In addition, each student will be familiar with the Yoga Shala studio and the props that we offer and have information regarding the type of classes that the studio has to offer and feel completely at ease attending our yoga classes.

Students are welcomed at any age... it's never too late to start practicing yoga!

Whether you are an experienced student with a deep interest in learning more about the body, or a yoga teacher, massage therapist, physical therapist or personal trainer with a desire to learn more ways to help your clients, friends and family to feel healthy and happy, this training is for you!  This 2-part (4 day) intensive training will profoundly deepen your knowledge as you fall in love with the beauty and grace of the human body and learn how easily we can heal from injuries and misalignments through the practice of Anusara Yoga.

Sarah will weave anatomy, therapy, asana and philosophy into a rich tapestry, empowering students with a deep, inner knowing of how to help themselves and others find freedom from pain and suffering in the body.  She will address a variety of musculo-skeletal injuries and misalignments related to the lower back, hips, shoulders, neck, knees, elbows, ankles, feet, and wrists.  There is no better way to fully understand the biomechanical elegance of John Friend’s Universal Principles of Alignment™ than with hands-on experience in the classroom.

Learn how to give a huge variety of very refined/skillful/therapeutic hands-on adjustments to yourself and others to help guide the body towards an optimal place of health and healing.  Our sessions will include asana practice, anatomy and therapy instruction, and partner/group activities, with some time reserved to work with specific injuries/misalignments that you may be dealing with.

Prerequisites:
*at least 15hrs of Anusara Yoga experience with inspired or certified teachers
*a basic understanding of the Universal Principles of Alignment™ of Anusara Yoga
